What Is A SAP Calculation?
A SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) calculation is the UK Government's approved method for measuring the energy efficiency and CO₂ emissions of new, converted or extended residential dwellings.
It's a legal requirement under Part L of the Building Regulations for all new residential construction, extensions over certain thresholds, and certain change-of-use conversions. Your local Building Control will require both a design-stage SAP and a completion-stage SAP (also known as an 'as built' SAP) before issuing a completion certificate.
